HMV to reopen store at Braehead shopping centre

HMV has reopened at the Braehead Shopping Centre on the outskirts of Glasgow.

The music retailer has moved to a new outlet at the destination, where it will offer a range of more than 17,000 products, including a 3,500-strong vinyl range.

All staff who worked at the company’s previous outlet at Braehead will move to the new store, which spans 4,251 square feet.

Frasers Group, Paperchase and Claire’s are among other retailers which have committed to space at Braehead in recent months.

HMV managing director Phil Halliday said: “In the same year hmv celebrates its 100th anniversary, we’re thrilled to re-locate at Braehead shopping centre. This is an iconic brand and prime retail space – a combination which sets the store up for success.”

Steve Gray, head of European retail asset management at Global Mutual, said: “We’re delighted that the team at hmv have chosen to stay with us at Braehead – this is a brand our customers know and love, so it should prove a real draw. We’ve no doubt the new store will be as popular as ever, especially as customers start to think about their Christmas shopping.

“The news follows a number of other recent signings at the centre – testament to returning confidence across the market and our compelling offer for retailers.”
