Easy Sunday

presented by Al Smart

I’m a retired BT Manager and Road Safety presenter (think speed awareness courses!) who lives in North West Leicestershire. Married, we share our home with our adopted black and white cat. (Yes, he very graciously adopted us). How did I get involved with radio presenting, well, read on……. After a lifelong interest in radio broadcasting, especially those based on ships and abandoned wartime forts, I started as a volunteer presenter, engineer and fundraiser with Carillon Radio (a hospital radio station) in 2007. To record programmes meant a weekly trip to the Loughborough studios, but as I was self employed at the time, it was not always convenient. Coming from an engineering background, I subsequently discovered that I could record programmes from home relatively easily. I started recording programmes from home a year or so later and have carried on ever since. I left Carillon Radio after a couple of years and ventured into the big wide world of internet radio. My main signature programme back then was “Easy Sunday”, and it continues through to today. A wide variety of music from the 1950’s to the present day, together with a number of features to keep you entertained. Hope you like it.

Presenter

Liam Christie

I have done sports podcasts and I was on my Facebook feed one day and I seen an advertisement for Johnstone community radio. After getting in touch via email I started training and I've now got my own weekly show. I play anything from classic rock ,Indie and r and b hits to modern songs that maybe no one has heard in a while or at all. I have a varied music taste that I love to share with everyone and hopefully my show makes people laugh or just happy in general. Music is life and can remind you of certain moments whether that would be happy or sad and thats why I have a passion for it.

Presenter

Emma Gabarda

I’m Emma, also known as ‘Frenchie’, and I’ve been a professional singer for 18 years. I’m from the south of France but I moved to Glasgow 2017 to study Music Business, then Marketing & Communications. I love discovering new bands and going to local gigs, that’s why I joined Johnstone Sound in April 2021 to host French Connection. It gives me the opportunity to play new music and unsigned bands from France, Scotland and beyond every week. So if you like to discover new music, join the French Connection show every Wednesday from 8pm on Johnstone Sound.

Presenter

John Hood

I am married to Violet and have a son James. We live in Johnstone,  I was brought up in Spateston until my early twenties when I got married(33years ago).  I have been a local councillor for the past 18 years.  My past jobs have been in local engineering companies as Fitter/maintenance.
