After some 50 odd years working in construction retirement is on the horizon and although I have a passion for construction my interest and love of radio and music started back in the 60s when off shore radio took off. Prior to the mid 60s the only way to hear popular music was A.M. transmissions from Luxembourg, Saturday night Jukebox Jury or Sunday night Pick of the Pops. Today the choice of listening to music is vast and local community radio is a great way to bring the local folk together.
I only found out about Johnstone Sound in March and jumped at the chance to join the team. Looking forward to presenting and sharing a carefully selected mixed bag of music from popular well known classics to great music that’s been tucked away in albums.
My other love notwithstanding the my dear wife, is fitness training and Judo. Being totally useless at ball sports, back in the day I found the Press Steel Judo Club in Linwood (the old Chrysler car factory where Asda now stands) back in 1962 and this has stuck with me all these years and I have been coaching Judo locally for the last 40 years.
