About the Show
My name is Kenny Boag, born and raised in Colmonell, South Ayrshire.
I have always had a passion for Sports and music, worked all my life, from Fishing to Fundraising where I have raised over £1.5 million for UK charities seen most of our beautiful island through work and loved it.
In 2016, I went to Glasgow Clyde College, to study and three years later graduated with an HND in Media and Communications, which has taken me to study Sports Journalism at UWS in Ayr, and here to Johnstone Sound.
Growing up in the middle of nowhere my Dad would drive his Land Rover up the field and we would listen to the football (only place we got a signal) my love for radio grew from there and with playing sport all my life all I have ever wanted to do was just talk about it on the radio.
I have commentated at the Skiffi World Championships and I am part of a team that covers and promotes women’s football in Scotland called Anyone’s Game.
So tune in every Tues night at 8pm for you weekly fix of Terrace, Talk n Tunes with me and the young “loon” Robbie Hanratty.
My name is Robbie Hanratty. I was born into the heart of Aberdeen and from a young age was immersed in the culture of those who kicked a ball around the streets to those who flocked to the stadiums to see their local team. A sense of freedom yet a sense of belonging as we clapped and cheered. My dad, a lifelong football fan, took me to the games and bought us season tickets. I soon became fascinated and intrigued at the camaraderie and the competition that was the game of football.
I loved to watch the skilful ways with which the game was played and I loved joining together with others as we celebrated and commiserated; a bonding that stood strong away from the pitch.
As I moved through the years my passion for football stayed a constant as I went out into the world travelling and exploring many avenues and adventures. The most recent being the popular Scottish pastime, Munro Bagging.
I took great interest in listening to the football commentary on the radio from the likes of fellow Aberdonian Liam McLeod, and that has since been my ambition to talk football on the radio (and be good at it). Growing up, my friends and family nicknamed me “stato” because of my incredible knowledge to remember facts and statistics around the world of football.
This led me to study a HND in Media at North East Scotland College and then further with a Honours Degree at Robert Gordon University, where I got a real sense of how radio and television operated as well as the theory behind it. More recently, I have been studying my Masters Degree in Broadcast Journalism at the University of the West of Scotland.
My passion for radio grew during my time in higher education. I have since been a guest on several national radio stations where I always thrived on talking about what I enjoy. Steadily growing a following in the process.
Now you can find me exclusively on Johnstone Sound as Kenny Boag and I host Terrace Talk n Tunes every Tuesday night from 8-10pm.
